How was your talk meaningful for Blockchain Expo attendees?
“It was a great honor to deliver the opening key note speech for Day 1 in the Blockchain for Enterprise track. Power is one of the most foundational industries that meets the basic needs of society. It’s an industry that’s been around for more than a century, yet it’s going through tremendous transformation today. Through my talk I explained the complexity in the power system and the disruptions we are facing. Further, I explained how Blockchain can be a great technology fit because of its inherent value on security, robustness, and ability to facilitate autonomous and frictionless transactions.”
What specific tips or insights did attendees get?
“Any technology will have to fit in the business context. Decarbonization, digitization, decentralization and electrification will all inevitably happen in the power industry. I shared the re-imagined prosumer experience and the transformation of the utility business. Blockchain has great potential as a technology enabler for a green, intelligent, collaborative, and distributed grid in the future. We had a very engaging audience that asked great questions on regulation, misconceptions on blockchain as well as key factors to future adoptions. Thanks to everyone who attended the session.”
Which Panel Did You Participate In?
“I delivered the opening key note speech in the Blockchain in Enterprise track and also discussed with panelists in the panel discussion, “The race towards interoperability” in the Blockchain platform and strategies track. Interoperability will be key to the future adoption of applications built on different blockchain implementations. We discussed user experience, regulation, and technology development in different industries represented by the panelists. I’m looking forward to more advancement in this area for the power industry. It will definitely help with user experience and future collaboration between utilities and energy companies. “
Why did you decide to give this talk?
“We are taking a very collaborative approach at GE Power when it comes to Blockchain initiatives. We would love to collaborate with industry players to explore the potential of this technology. In addition, we’d like to share our thoughts and stay engaged with the community. It will be a journey that we will take jointly to bring the value of blockchain technology from vision to reality. We look forward to the exploration ride together.”
