How was your talk meaningful for Blockchain Expo attendees?

“My first talk was focused on demystifying some of the math that underpins blockchain technology to bring newcomers up to speed with bitcoin and blockchain. My second talk was a hands-on developer workshop covering the fundamentals of Ethereum that introduced the audience to becoming a smart contract developer.”

What specific tips or insights did attendees get?

“During my first talk on Blockchain Basics I jumped straight into explaining blockchain terminology in simpler terms. I covered what wallets are, the different types available and how to use them. Next, I conducted a step-by-step examination of what happens on the blockchain when one party sends bitcoins to another. At each step, I explained the underlying math and walked the audience through the entire transaction workflow. At the end of the talk, I gave the audience several definitions of blockchain they may see online.

My workshop on Ethereum development covered an overview of the Ethereum architecture, setting up a development environment and coding and deploying a smart contract. Since the workshop was live I was able to help new developers see what issues they may run into. I saved them a ton of time on google searches.”

Which Panel Did You Participate In?

“I gave two 2 talks: Blockchain Basics – a jargon-free introduction to bitcoin blockchain and Developing Blockchain Applications – getting started with development on Ethereum.

Why did you decide to give this talk?

“Blockchain technology is very promising on a number of verticals. At the same time, it’s somewhat immature and needs a lot of development. For those of us who work in the space, I believe it’s our responsibility to grow the development ecosystem by training more people and getting them excited about the opportunity of decentralized applications. My hope is that my presentation provided a clear starting point for those who want to get started with ethereum development.”
